The race to be named Metropolitan Hotel of the Year at this year’s Australian Hotel Association NSW Awards for Excellence has been narrowed down to just ten of the city’s finest establishments.
Pubs from Hurstville to Hunters Hill are in line for the sought-after title, which is given to the metropolitan Sydney hotel which stands out across all award categories this year.
Independent judges evaluate everything from food and beverage, ambience and overall presentation of the hotel to community support and customer service.
The ten finalists include The Bank Hotel and The Coopers Hotel, both in Newtown, Humphrey’s Hotel in Hurstville, Hunters Hill Hotel in Hunters Hill, Jacksons on George and Shell House in Sydney, The Oaks Hotel in Neutral Bay, Swing City in Bella Vista, The Royal Hotel Paddington and The Winston in Winston Hills.
AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said the annual awards had more than 950 entries this year and the standard was incredibly high.
“Sydney has some of the best pubs in the world and these ten hotels are a showcase of what modern hotels offer,” said Mr Whelan.
“These pubs have restaurant quality food, great beer and wine, a family-friendly atmosphere and boast some of the best rooftops and beer gardens in the country.
“I wish them all the best of luck.”
The winner will be named at a gala ceremony on Tuesday, 29 October 2024 at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
