After a highly competitive selection process, five standout acts have been chosen to take part in the AHA NSW Rockin’ the Puburbs Grand Final.
The finalists; Abbey Lane, Herd Immunity, No Bull, Off Judy and The Hype Boys will battle it out live in front of a panel of judges and a crowd of music fans on Thursday, 28 August at the iconic Selina’s at Coogee Bay Hotel.
AHA NSW CEO John Whelan said more than 500 acts have entered Rockin’ the Puburbs since its inception and the competition continues to grow each year.
“This competition is our way of recognising how much value live music can add to a great hotel and a way to give the next generation of local talent a leg up,” said Mr Whelan.
“Local pubs have really embraced the Minns Government’s vibrancy reforms and have been hosting more live music. It is clear from the standard and variety of this year’s entries that the pub music scene is only getting better.”
The judging panel includes NSW Minister for Music and the Night-Time Economy, John Graham and NSW 24-Hour Economy Commissioner, Michael Rodrigues. Australian musician, record producer and the founding bass guitarist of Noiseworks, Steve Balbi, is also on the panel along with Emily Collins, Head of Sound NSW and AHA NSW Director of Liquor and Policing John Green.
The winning band will take home $15,000 cash, an interview on Triple M’s Homegrown with Matty O from British India, and a support slot at a Noisy Group show – a career-defining opportunity for any emerging band.
